  • -Meet and Greet-Had planning meeting May 1st, still needing family support and donations -Upcoming Event

Agenda

  1. Parade- Update on student interest, are we still going to try for participation? Do we have student interest for  students/parents walking in New Tech t shirts w/the Banner, handing out tootsie rolls or some sort of candy?
  2. Banners are done!  We can pick up following receipt of payment (to be sent this week)
  3. Student celebrations discussion-Zap Zone; Is there anything PAC needs to support
  4. U of M Concessions-Discuss ways to gain support for this activity
  5. Meet and Greet, May 29th Update of Activities, discuss needs
  6. Mr. Wilsey to discuss Parent Panel for potential new facilitators

This event will be an opportunity to learn how the ACT PLAN/EXPLORE measures the college readiness of your student and how to support their growth in the coming year!

PLAN/EXPLORE parent night details.  It has been moved (due to limited auditorium availability) to May 22.  It will be in the auditorium, with food to be served in the auditorium lobby first. It will be from 6:30-8:00 p.m. with the actual presentation from 7-8.

Recap last meeting:

-Mr Wilsey-update from Feb 5th Parent Meeting -update on grading policy for facilitators, weekly staff meetings, grade changes that were in process, focus on culture and changes. 4 year plan.

-Would like to form critical fringe groups with parents

-Mr. Butka w/w at risk students, interventions specific to student needs

-Edulink replaces Honeywell-Need to know how to update info

-Mrs Garland Relay for Life, May 18th-19th

-Fundraising: Raising the banner, March 15th Skate night-thanks to those who helped during this event (Angela, Stacy, Beth, Paula, Andy and Kathie) we have funds to cover the cost of two banners!!!

-Banners-Need to confirm what’s needed to place order and get it in. Need to cover how check will be issued and when.

Agenda:

-Mr. Wilsey update from Feb 5th parent meeting, what’s occurred in the past month, what’s next? What about a Carnegie parent U?

-Mr. Darket update from NT trip and facilitator certifications! Congrats!!

PAC meeting notes:    Feb 20th            Special guest: Jerry LaVaute-Belleville View

Mr. Wilsey gave update from parent meeting and will send out a summary to parents.
Meeting  of the minds workshop held for facilitators, NT school coach to work with facilitators.  Facilitators working towards NT Network certifications.
Parents urged to check Michigan Department of Education for common core standards; to see what facilitators need to teach and what students need to learn.
Urged parents to check students agendas in Echo to see their day to day goings on.
Edu link- replaces prior Honeywell system
-need to know how to update contact info when there are changes.  Mr. Wilsey to post steps for updating on BNT parents website and/or Fusion (VBPS website)
Would like to form some critical fringe groups-work with facilitators to review and reflect on projects and provide input.  Please email scott.wilsey@bhsnt.org if you are interested.

Mrs. Garland thanked all that participated in the farm project!  There were over 40 community members in attendance, with special thanks to Mrs. Robeickewicz (apologize if mis-spelled:).
She also invited  all 10th graders to participate in the relay for life event this year with the 9th grade, held on May 18th, 19th in Canton.  If any parents are interested in being a part of the key meetings for this event, you are welcome, first one is march 9th. Please contact jennifer.garland@bhsnt.org if interested.

Group updates
Fundraising committee
U of M Baseball spring games= less of a time commitment per game, (4-5 hours) $180 earned per game.  Need 4-5 people per game, games on weekends. We hope you will help out!

These monies support student celebrations, community activities and field trips!

Upcoming events:

  • March 15- UMix Skate night for New Tech Banners
  • May 4- U of M Commencement (18-24 people needed) proceeds help the cancer walk project headed up by Mrs. Garland
  • Various dates March-May helping with U of M Softball– proceeds go towards celebrations, float $, field trips, etc…

Field trip advisory committee
List of possible educational events shared, including free exhibits and college fairs and virtual field trips!   Committee to work with facilitators on potential events that tie in with projects.

Float building committee
We would like to show off BNT to our community and present a student made float at the strawberry festival this year!
Working on theme contest flyers for students and steps to create a float

Raising the Banner! (Tuesday Feb 5th)

Calling all BNT parents….. Students ask your folks! 

We need you to help  RAISE THE BANNER! 

Bellleville New Tech and its parent group would like to purchase two full color vinyl banners (fairly large 4ft by 6 or 4ft by 8ft) to be able to showcase  Belleville New Tech at events and functions within the school and the community, including the  2013 Strawberry Festival!!!

We need to raise funds to purchase high quality banners that will last several years and represent BNT well.

We have an exciting opportunity to work an evening U of M event on February 5th that will make $400 for this purpose!

Mens Basketball Game

Tuesday Feb 5th U of M vs OHIO STATE  Crisler Center 9pm

Its a late game, so we really need adults for this event.

Volunteer check in is at 7pm at Crisler and we should be done around 11-11:30

BNT Banners

PAC is working on finding sources for BNT Banners to use at various events and functions, these would need to be fairly large and made of a durable vinyl material with good ink (UV) to last a good long time indoors and out!  If you know anyone who does this and would give BNT a fair price for these, Please let us know!   We will consider all options.
